Notley Abbey is a stunning, ancient building, which has been converted into a stunning wedding venue. Contemporary interiors compliment the original buildings of the abbey and original features of eras gone by will make for an incredible backdrop to your wedding day.

When Chloe and Steve approached me to be their videographer for their Notley Abbey wedding, I was delighted! As a wedding videographer in Oxfordshire, Notley Abbey is one of my favourite venues to film at as it has an incredible array of bright and airy rooms throughout, incredible architecture, and friendly staff too. It’s also just a five minute drive from home for me, which means I get to start a bit earlier and finish later too.
The brief from Chloe and Steve matched my wedding videography style perfectly. As my approach to wedding videography is relaxed, unintrusive, and documentary in style, I was able to film their wedding at Notley Abbey whilst letting the day flow.

What Makes Wedding Videography Special at Notley Abbey?
Notley Abbey is a historic property located in just outside of Thame, on the border between Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire. It has been used as a filming location for several films and television series and of course for weddings too!
So what else makes this venue so special for a Notley Abbey wedding videographer?
Exclusive Access
Notley Abbey is a private property and is not open to the public, which provides couples getting married there with exclusive access to the venue. This allows for greater control over filming your wedding throughout the day and provides a far more intimate experience for you and your guests.
Multiple Filming Locations
Couples Preparations & Your Ceremony
Couples preparations can take place at Notley Abbey with an exclusive converted farmhouse or in a bright and airy room inside the abbey itself. You can decide between you who will get ready where!
Your ceremony can take place in either the large ceremony barn or in the smaller, bright, and more intimate ceremony room near the entrance to the venue.
Filming your morning preparations at Notley Abbey is a wonderful experience. There is so much to capture even before your ceremony during bridal prep and establishing shots of the venue itself.
Dinner & Reception
Notley Abbey offers several options for where to host the wedding breakfast and evening reception which make for an incredible setting both on the day and will look great in film and photos too!
One option for the wedding breakfast is the Monks’ Refectory, which is a large and ornate room that dates back to the medieval period. The room features high ceilings, Gothic windows, and intricate wood paneling, making it a dramatic and impressive setting for a formal wedding breakfast.
Another option is the Georgian Ballroom, a more modern and spacious room that can accommodate larger parties. The ballroom features a grand fireplace, chandeliers, and tall windows overlooking the property’s gardens and lake, making it a beautiful and elegant setting for a wedding breakfast.
For the evening reception, the Monks’ Refectory and Georgian Ballroom could also be used for dancing and entertainment, depending on the size of the party and the desired atmosphere. Additionally, Notley Abbey has a number of outdoor spaces that could be used for a reception, including the lawn and the walled garden.
Overall, the specific location and setup for the wedding breakfast and evening reception at Notley Abbey would depend on the preferences and requirements of the wedding party. Notley Abbey’s historic and modern spaces, scenic surroundings, and exclusive access make it a highly sought-after location for weddings and special events.
All In One Place
As a Notley Abbey wedding videographer, one of the most important things to mention is that I can be almost anywhere at the venue within a couple of minutes. Logistically and creatively, it gives me the freedom to be flexible and able to capture something quickly without needing to walk a long distance or get in the car to move on to the next venue.
Whilst everything is all in one place, each room feels entirely unique and each has its own character. The entire wedding venue has been creatively laid out to make a wedding day run smoothly, whilst allowing you to make your own bespoke touches to make it your own.
